In May 2007, Tottenham Hotspur beat off competition from a number of other Premier League clubs to snap up Southampton's teenage left-back Gareth Bale in a deal that could eventually be worth £10million.
The 17-year-old Wales international moved for an initial fee of £5million, with add-on payments worth the same again.
Bale had scored five goals in 45 games for Saints and is the youngest ever full international for Wales.
His first season at Tottenham was cut short by injury, but he did play a handful of games and impressed in all of them.
