THE ESSENTIAL

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has been cleared of taking bungs in an offshore tax dodge, with Milan Mandaric also found not guilty.

West Brom midfielder Zoltan Gera will miss the rest of the season after it was confirmed that he ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament in their game against Tottenham Hotspur.

Tottenham defender Ledley King is confident that he can play next season, and has insisted that he won't be hanging up his boots. The defender can't train during the week but already has 20 appearances for Spurs this season.

Following Tottenham's 3-1 win at West Brom, which made it 10 games unbeaten for Spurs, Jermain Defoe has said that "the sky's the limit" for the side - who will go second if they win their game in hand against Manchester United.

Harry Redknapp has confirmed that Tottenham are looking at Celtic winger James Forrest, following the winger's recent performances. The Spurs manager said: "We have had good reports of what is obviously a good player. But he belongs to Celtic and that's as far as it's gone."

Emmanuel Adebayor has called his time at Manchester City a "headache" as he continues to thrive at Tottenham Hotspur. The Togo striker said: "I wish them the best of luck, but do I wish to be part of that team right now? No. Whenever I woke up last year to go into training it was a headache."

Tottenham star Rafael van der Vaart has said that he feels for in-form striker Jermain Defoe as Harry Redknapp is forced to choose between the two to partner Emmanuel Adebayor.

West Ham's deal for the Olympic Stadium following the London 2012 games has collpased due to the delays caused by the legal dispute with Tottenham. West Ham are said to have welcomed the move and will bid again in a new tender process.

Tottenham have been given a boost after it was confirmed that Rafael van der Vaart's injury isn't as bad as first feared. The Dutchman is likely to be back for their game against Liverpool.

Aston Villa manager Alex McLeish has said that the signing of Alan Hutton from Tottenham is a coup for the club. The Scottish right-back had been out of favour at White Hart Lane, and McLeish said: "He's a good signing for us. We do lack a bit of experience in the squad. To get Alan, an international in his prime is a great coup for us."
