Ben Alnwick

Gateshead-born keeper Ben Alnwick came through Sunderland's youth system and acted as back-up for Thomas Myhre during 2004/05, though he only made a handful of first team appearance for the Black Cats during his time there.

However, he has played for England at youth levels and went on Sunderland's summer tour of the USA in 2004. As such he is considered one of England's most promising young keepers.

This must have been in Martin Jol's mind when the Tottenham Hotspur boss signed Alnwick for an undisclosed fee in January 2007.

Although he didn't play much in his first half-season, he is sure to have a bright future at White Hart Lane.
