Tottenham Hotspur head coach Juande Ramos believes that his side can challenge for a top-four finish in the Premier League next season.

The Spaniard guided Spurs to Carling Cup glory shortly after his arrival from Sevilla earlier this season and has his sights set on an improvement in the league next term.

Ramos said: "I believe that Tottenham should be competing with the top four. To achieve that we need to fix a few things and we cannot remain in the lower half of the table.

"We are analysing the players every day in training and in the games they are playing. But I believe we already know what staff we want for next year.

"My obligation is to let the club know which players we need and the club then puts this into practice if they can. I am completely supported by the club and there is a direct and clear communication on the best way to achieve this.

"You are always thinking about what you are going to do for next season and the time for putting that into practice will be during pre-season.

"We have had a very positive first season. We have achieved a lot in a short space of time. When we arrived the team was in a difficult and uncomfortable position.

"But we started to play some good football and people began to believe in the work we were doing."
