Sunderland boss Mick McCarthy has made Gillingham right-back Nyron Nosworthy his second signing in the summer of 2005.

The 24-year-old put pen to paper on a two-year deal at the Stadium of Light following the expiry of his contract with Gillingham, where he made 199 first-team appearances after joining the club as a schoolboy.

He is a vital part of the Sunderland squad and switched from full-back to centre half under the management of Roy Keane.

This, both he and Keane believe, has improved his game and he became one of Sunderland's best players in 2007/08.
