Nick Colgan

Irish goalkeeper Nick Colgan started his career with Drogheda United in the early 1990s, before moving to England with Chelsea in 1992. However, he never made the breakthrough at Stamford Bridge, spending most of his six-year spell out on loan at clubs like Crewe Alexandra, Millwall and Reading.

In 1998 he joined Bournemouth, but moved on again to Hibernian a year later, where he made more of an impression in a five-year stay at the club. He then spent four years at Barnsley before losing his place and joining Ipswich Town in January 2008.

He left the Tractor Boys at the end of the season before being signed by Premier League club Sunderland as a back-up keeper.
