Glenn Whelan

Glenn Whelan rose through the ranks at Manchester City before making his first team debut in the UEFA Cup clash with TNS at the start of the 2003/04 season.

However, the midfielder failed to break through into the first team and spent four months on loan with Bury.

In July 2004, he signed for Sheffield Wednesday on a free transfer.

After a successful four year period at Hillsborough he was snapped up by Stoke in 2008.

Whelan has featured for the Republic of Ireland's Under-21 side and recently made the step up to the senior squad.
