Debreceni defender Peter Mate joined Premiership newcomers Reading on a one-year loan deal in August 2006.

The 21-year-old helped Debreceni to win back-to-back Hungarian league titles in the past two seasons.

Injury hampered his 2006/07 season, but his loan was extended to the end of 2007 in April of that year and he will look impress in the first half of the 07/08 campaign.
