In January 2007 Reading snapped up promising Danish goalkeeper Mikkel Andersen for an undisclosed fee from AB Copenhagen.

The 18-year-old signed a two-and-a-half year contract with the Royals, with the Premiership new boys having high hopes for the teenager.

Director of football Nick Hammond told the club's official website: "He's a really talented young goalkeeper, who has great size and presence for such a young man.

"He also has an excellent attitude and work ethic, so he's got every chance of enjoying a successful career."

Andersen had impressed while on trial with Steve Coppell's squad, before making his stay a permanent one.
