CARLING MATES CHALLENGE - RANGERS

Rangers v St Mirren - 15th November 2008

The winner from our recent Carling Mates Challenge competition took to the pitch with his mates at the Rangers v St Mirren game, hoping to show their football skills and win some hospitality.

Iain Wilson brought along his brother David, and mates Peter Wingate and Darren Wilson to help him with the challenge. Each person had to dribble the ball from the halfway line and try to score against Rangers keeper, Lee Robinson. If they scored, they won their own place at hospitality for a future game. If they missed, they were staying at home. At the end, they could choose to gamble the places they had won with an all-or-nothing final shot at goal.

So how did they do? As the winner, Iain was first up and the pressure of performing in front of thousands of people must have put him off as his shot went swinging off to the right. David was next; the keeper came way off his line and he managed to curl his shot round the side of him and into the net. Darren was hoping to make it another goal, but his shot was directed right at the goalie who saved it with his feet. Last up was Peter, who decided to try and chip it over the goalie. It wasn't quite good enough, and the keeper being in a playful mood saved the ball by nonchalantly heading it away!

So with only David going to hospitality, they decided to gamble and let Iain have another go. Looking much more confident this time, Iain ran towards the goal, the keeper stood his ground, and Iain curled the shot round him and into the back of the net. The gamble had paid off, and all four guys will be enjoying hospitality in the Carling Lounge for the Rangers v Hamilton game in December.
