Carling Mates Challenge

Rangers v Inverness Caledonian Thistle 03.11.07

It was Carling Mates Challenge time again at Ibrox as our carling.com winner and his mates got the chance to fulfil their dreams, taking to the pitch to show off their skills in front of almost 50,000 home supporters. Rangers fans Simon Carlisle, Stephen Cook, David Lacey, Jim Hamilton and Andrew Cowan each had the chance to score against Gers youth 'keeper Mark Weir knowing that if they found the back of the net, they would be VIP guests at the Rangers v Hearts game in the Carling Lounge. To add a twist to the event, if any of the guys missed, they could gamble and risk the places they had won to win back the places for the guys who didn't score. They would select one of the mates to have one more shot to book all 5 places in the Carling Lounge.

So how did they get on? Unfortunately it looked like the lads left their shooting boots back at home as Simon Carlisle, Stephen Cook, David Lacey and Andrew Cowan all failed to find a way past Weir in the Gers' goal. Jim Hamilton proved he had the bottle for the big occasion though, coolly slotting home to give the lads a score of one out of five. With only Jim booking a place in the Carling Lounge for the Hearts game the boys had no option but to send him up again in the gamble, to see if he could win VIP places for all five. Jim's previous composure deserted him though as he failed to convert the gamble and left the guys with no Carling Lounge places for the visit of Hearts. All was not lost though, with a case of Carling winging it's way to all five mates as we speak!
