Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp has lavished praise on Sacha Gaydamak and admits he is lucky to have such a patient owner at Fratton Park.

Redknapp has revealed his amazement over reports suggesting Manchester City owner Thaksin Shinawatra is considering parting company with Sven-Goran Eriksson.

Eriksson could find himself out of a job despite leading the Citizens to at least a ninth-placed finish in the Premier League during his first season at the helm.

"It's hard to believe what is happening at Manchester City really," said Redknapp, who has guided Pompey to an FA Cup Final appearance this season.

"What will happen in this country in years to come is you will have 20 billionaires owning football clubs and they will all want to win. But they can't all win.

"For Manchester City it's a massive improvement - the best they've done in years.

"The more foreign owners that come in, the worse it will get as they will all want to be in the top four.

"But I'm very lucky here, my fella's been fantastic - and I'm not just saying that. I don't have to say that because I'm well past worrying about what they think of me.

"I think the people of Portsmouth are very fortunate to have him. He's supportive, doesn't interfere and he's improved everything here.

"He's put a lot of money into this club and there is more to come."
