Newcastle United completed the £10million signing of Obafemi Martins from Internazionale in August 2006.

Magpies boss Glenn Roeder had been chasing the Nigeria international's signature for several months.

Martins scored 48 times in 134 games for Inter and despite struggling early on he eventually hit top gear for Newcastle United in 2006/07.

All in all, he scored seventeen goals in 43 starts and will be hoping to continue such fine form in 07/08.
