Habib Beye

French right-back Habib Beye joined Newcastle United from Marseille in August 2007.

He began his career at Paris St Germain in 1997 before moving on to Strasbourg a year later.

In five years with the French side, he played over 130 games and scored eight goals.

Such fine form attracted the attention of Marseille, with whom he signed in 2003.

Another four seasons of fine football impressed Sam Allardyce enough to sign him for the Magpies, and he proved a valuable acquisition in the 2007/08 campaign.
