Bradley Jones

Australian keeper Bradley Jones was signed from Bayswater in his native West Australia in 2000. He unexpectedly found himself on the bench for Middlesbrough's first team for the trip to Fulham in January 2002.

Although he didn't actually see any first team action, he retained his place among the subs for a further four games, showing the faith goalkeeping coach Paul Barron and then-manager Steve McClaren had in his ability.

Tall and agile, Jones was a a member of Boro side which reached the semi-final of the FA Youth Cup in 2000 before losing out to eventual winners Arsenal.

However, with fellow countryman Mark Schwarzer firmly installed as Middlesbrough's no.1 Jones has found it difficult to break into the first team. The 2005/06 season afforded him a few opportunities, following periods on loan at Stockport, Rotherham and Blackpool. Jones made 13 first team appearances for Middlesbrough, the high point being a clean sheet away at Old Trafford, the nadir a 7-0 defeat away at Arsenal.

In August 2006, he joined Sheffield Wednesday on loan and received his first Australian call up in 2007.
