Darron Gibson

Darron Gibson shot to prominence while still a relative unknown in the Manchester United youth system, due to a row over which country he would represent at international level. Despite being born in Northern Ireland, he chose to be eligible for the Republic of Ireland, making his debut in 2007.

He made his United debut in October 2005 as a substitute in a Carling Cup game and has spent time on loan at Royal Antwerp and Wolverhampton Wanderers. Gibson made his breakthrough in 2008/09, with his Premier League debut coming in November 2008, his first goal in January 2009 and a spectacular strike in the last day of the season ensured that he finished on a high.

In July 2009 he signed a new three-year-deal at the club.
