Vincent Kompany

Belgian defender Vincent Kompany came through the youth system at Anderlecht to become one of Europe's hottest properties. Having been linked with moves to some of the continent's top clubs, he joined Hamburg in 2006, but had his time there plagued by injuries.

In August 2008 he moved to Manchester City for an undisclosed fee, and his first season in England saw him stay fit and showing consistent form as he quickly became a key part of Mark Hughes's team at Eastlands.
