Javier Garrido

Spanish defender Javier Garrido joined Manchester City from Real Sociedad in August 2007 for a fee of £1.5m.

Garrido had been with Sociedad since the 2003-04 season, scoring once in more than 80 appearances for the Basque club, who were relegated from the Primera Liga in 2006/07.

His first season at Eastlands saw him get off to a great start, but struggle as City lost form and momentum. The arrival of Wayne Bridge from Chelsea in January 2009 meant that he lost his place in the team midway through his second season.
