Sweden goalkeeper Andreas Isaksson completed his £2million move from Rennes to Manchester City in August 2006.

The 24-year-old joined City as a replacement for David James, who signed for Portsmouth earlier in the month.

Isaksson told City's official website: "It's a great club to come to, and to come to England and play for a club like Manchester City is an honour for me.

"It's a big club, there a lot of good players in the squad and I am really looking forward to playing here.

"I feel good, I have been in training for three or four weeks and it should not take too much time to adjust to playing here, but I think it's more physical for keepers over here and tougher than in France. I am looking forward to that, I think it will suit me."

Isaksson's first season with Manchester City was disappointing as injuries and the form of Nicky Weeaver kept him out of the first team until December 2006.

Isaksson has won 42 international caps and was Sweden's first choice goalkeeper at the 2006 World Cup finals.
