Michael Turner is a tall and traditional centre-half who began his professional career at Charlton in the 2001/02 season.
He had impressed the Addicks with his performances for the Under-19s and reserves, but struggled to find regular first team football at the Valley.
He was therefore loaned out to Leyton Orient and later Brentford in 2003 and 2004, where he cemented his reputation as a promising young star.
He signed a permanent deal with Brentford in 2004, and he stayed at Griffin Park for two years before moving on to Hull in 2006.
Despite struggling at the start of his Tigers career, Turner proved himself a vital asset to Phil Brown's men in their promotion season and was again influential in 2008/09.
He played every minute of every Premier League game the club played and scored five goals as the Tigers narrowly avoided relegation.
