Steven Naismith began his career in 2003 with Kilmarnock. He made his debut in the 2003/04 season, coming on as a substitute in a game against Hibernian in April 2004.
He quickly became a vital part of the Kilie squad and was awarded the Scottish Football Writers' Young Player of the Year Award at the end of the 2005/06 season following a string of fine displays.
Naismith went for a two-day trial with Arsenal in the summer of 2006 but stayed in Scotland for 2006/07 and scored his first professional hat-trick during a 3-0 CIS Cup victory over Falkirk.
At the end of that season he won the Scottish PFA Young Player of the Year Award and this proved enough to attract the interest of Rangers, who signed him in August of that year.
His first season at Ibrox proved a successful one as he scored five goals in 21 games, although he was injured in the latter part of the season and is likely to be out for quite a while.
