Rangers completed the signing of the SPL's leading scorer Kris Boyd from Kilmarnock in January 2006.

The 22-year-old put pen to paper on a three-and-a-half-year contract at Ibrox after Kilmarnock agreed a compensation package worth in the region of £500,000 with the Scottish champions.

Boyd, who has already netted 17 times this term, was also a target for Sheffield Wednesday and Cardiff City, but revealed that the chance to play in the knockout stages of the Champions League persuaded him to snub a move to England.

And it proved to be a wise decision because since moving to Ibrox, Boyd has become one of Rangers' move consistant performers.

By the end of the 2006/07 season, Boyd had scored 37 goals in just 49 games and continued to be a vital player in 2007/08.
