Young goalkeeper Allan McGregor has risen through the ranks at Ibrox and overcome a serious wrist injury and a broken hand to continue challenging Rangers' number one keeper Stefan Klos for a place in the first team.
Upon joining the club, McGregor had been described as one of the best young goalkeepers in Europe. He made his debut in Rangers' 6-0 Cup win over Forfar in February 2002, coming on as a substitute after 70 minutes. He was handed his first start in the 2-0 victory over Aberdeen later that season.
Since then he has been kept out of the side by Klos, and joined St Johnstone on loan to gain some valuable first team experience at the start of the 2004/05 season where he made a series of strong performances where he made 24 appearances where he kept 11 clean sheets.
He returned to Rangers at the start of 2005 making two appearances before expressing his frustration at the signing of Ronald Waterreus.
The 2005/06 season proved to be his most successful in Rangers colours and he continued this fine form in 2006/07. He is now the Gers' first choice between the sticks.
