Rangers manager Walter Smith has revealed his interest in signing Watford defender Danny Shittu.
The 27-year-old centre-half has been linked with several clubs this summer and Smith is hoping to persuade the Hornets to part with their defensive lynchpin.
Shittu is a Nigeria international who has been with the Hornets for two seasons following a £1.5million switch from QPR.
"We will speak with them but whether we will get any closer to what they want I don't know," Smith told the Daily Record.
Meanwhile, the Gers boss appears to have abandoned plans to sign former loan midfielder Steven Davis on a permanent basis after revealing Fulham's £4million asking price for the Northern Ireland international is too high.
