Date of Birth: 1983-08-21 Melbourne, Australia

Australian striker Scott McDonald was born in Melbourne and began his football career with the Gippsland Falcons, making his debut at the tender age of just 14. He moved to English club Southampton as an apprentice in 2001, but struggled to break into the first team set-up and after loan deals with Huddersfield and Bournemouth he joined Wimbledon in 2003.
However, his career didn't really kick into gear until he joined Motherwell in 2004, and he scored 15 goals in 2004/05, including two late ones against Celtic on the final day of the season, denying them the title. He made his debut for Australia in February 2006, having also been eligible to play for Scotland through his parents.
In May 2007 he left Motherwell and signed for Celtic for £750,000, despite being linked with a move to Rangers.
