Fulham completed the signing of USA international forward Clint Dempsey in January 2007 after being granted a work permit to clinch the deal.

The 23-year-old joined the Cottagers from New England Revolution, for a fee believed to be in the region of £1.5million.

Cottagers boss Chris Coleman told the club's official website: "It's great news that we have already secured our second signing this early in the transfer window.

"I have been watching Clint for a while now and he is an aggressive, offensively minded player with a great deal of skill and aptitude.

"He also has a great attitude towards the game which is very important to me when I sign a player.

"It may take a little time for Clint to get used to the Premiership, but when he does, I have no doubt that he will have an exciting impact for Fulham."

His first half-season at Fulham proved to be mildly successful as he scored one goal in 12 games.

He developed on this in 2007/08 and at the end of the season signed a new deal which will keep him at the club until 2010. He proved his commitment to the club with an impressive season in 2008/09 and scored eight goals in 41 games.
