Robbie Keane rejected the chance to join Turkish side Besiktas in an £8million deal. The Turkish transfer window did not close until 5pm on Wednesday night and Besiktas had lodged the necessary paperwork for Keane - ready for him to fly to Istanbul and sign a lucrative three year contract. Keane, 30, who is with the Republic of Ireland squad in Armenia, considered the deal but finally opted to stay at Tottenham.

Deal is Wright for Holloway

Blackpool boss Ian Holloway is trying to push through a deal for former England keeper Richard Wright - and talk him into a short-term contract. Wright is a free agent and has been training with Crystal Palace but he could join the Seasiders squad outside the window - and be able to take a squad number as they have a vacancy. Holloway has been chasing Wright for days but the money men are yet to agree terms with him, but hope to clinch a move before the weekend.
