Following Tottenham's 9-1 thumping of Wigan in the Premier League, we take a look at five of the best victories in the Premier League era.

Five of the Best Premier League victories

Manchester United 9-0 Ipswich, March 1995

Still the biggest ever victory in Premier League history, Andy Cole struck five goals as United ran riot at Old Trafford. Mark Hughes added a brace while midfielders Paul Ince and Roy Keane also scored. It was a miserable day for Ipswich 'keeper Craig Forrest, who also conceded seven on his next visit to Old Trafford, while playing for West Ham.

Newcastle 8-0 Sheffield Wednesday, September 1999

They may be seen fighting it out in the Championship this season, but back in their Premier League days, Newcastle recorded one of the biggest wins with an eight goal thumping of Wednesday, who were relegated at the end of the season. Alan Shearer scored five goals, including two penalties, while Aaron Hughes, Kieron Dyer and Gary Speed also found themselves on the scoresheet.

Nottingham Forest 1-8 Manchester United, February 1999

Sir Alex Ferguson's men were in ominous form in their treble winning season, none-more-so than at the City Ground, where they thumped Forest. Andy Cole and Dwight Yorke grabbed a brace apiece, with Alan Rogers briefly levelling for the home side, but it was Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who stole the show, coming off the bench to score four in the final 10 minutes.

Arsenal 7-0 Everton, May 2005

The biggest Premier League win this decade, until Spurs' thumping of Wigan, came at Highbury where Robert Pires (2), Dennis Bergkamp, Robin van Persie, Patrick Vieira, Mathieu Flamini and Edu all scored to see off fourth-placed Everton in their final home game of the campaign.

Blackburn Rovers 7-0 Nottingham Forest, November 1995

The-then Premier League champions brushed aside mid-table Nottingham Forest in this November fixture, with Alan Shearer scoring a hat-trick, which helped him on the way to his record number of 260 Premier League goals, which puts him well clear at the top of the top scorer rankings. Lars Bohinen scored two, while Mike Newell and Graeme Le Saux also netted as Blackburn showed no signs of a European hangover following an adventurous European campaign.
