There's nothing sweeter than seeing the ball hit the back of the net. But the joy doesn't stop there. You have then got to enjoy the goal with your adoring faithful, and why not have a bit of fun along the way. From the unique to the acrobats, here's our run down of five of the best goal celebrations.

Five of the Best Goal Celebrations

1. Fabrizio Ravanelli

The Italian striker moved to Middlesbrough for a solitary season in 1996-97 and despite 17 goals, he couldn't help the North East side avoid relegation, although he did help them to both the League Cup and FA Cup Final. But fans have fond memories of him removing his shirt and whirling it around his head in celebration, something which would now have earned him a yellow card. Ravanelli was a big opposer to the new rule imposed by FIFA. When the "White Feather" was feeling a little mellow, he would merely pull the front of his shirt over his face and run around like a headless chicken. Boro sure could have done with some Italian firepower last season. He retired in 2005 after ending his career at Perugia.

2. Jurgen Klinsmann

A prolific goalscorer for club and country, Klinsmann arrived in England in 1994 and scored 21 goals in 41 appearances for Tottenham. He suffered a tough start to life in England gaining a reputation as a diver, but he soon turned that to his advantage, diving at full length to celebrate a goal. It soon became his trademark and has been replicated by many ever since, and has been dubbed "a Klinsmann". He returned to Spurs to finish his career in 1997, scoring nine goals in 15 appearances.

3. Robbie Keane

A regular marksman in the Premier League, most notably for Spurs and unnotably for Liverpool, Keane celebrates with his traditional cartwheel, forward roll and while on one knee mimicking the firing of a rifle or an arrow from a bow. He's had plenty of opportunities to perfect it, having scored 39 goals in 90 appearances for the Republic of Ireland and more than 85 goals for Spurs plus others for Wolves, Coventry and Leeds.

4. Obafemi Martins

Newcastle fans can only wish to have seen Obafemi Martins' spectacular celebratory somersaults, which were that impressive, he was even used by UEFA to advertise the Champions League while at Inter Milan. They sometimes involved a fancy back-flip at the end, if of course the somersaults weren't enough. Goal celebrations are apparently just as important as playing the game in Nigeria - fellow Nigerians Julius Aghahowa and Celestine Babayaro were also famed for their acrobatic celebrations.

5. Robert Earnshaw

Another acrobat is Welsh international striker Robert Earnshaw. He regularly does a front flip upon scoring, sometimes followed by a cheeky presentation gesture. Again, Earnshaw is another striker with plenty of opportunity to show off his gymnastic skills - he is the only player to have scored hat-tricks in the Premiership, Divisions 1, 2 and 3, the FA Cup, the League Cup and in an international.
