Steven Pienaar

South African midfielder Steven Pienaar first emerged as another talented product of the prolific Ajax youth academy and quickly established himself as one of their brightest prospects. In January 2006 he moved to Germany and Borussia Dortmund, but initially struggled under the weight of expectation, having been signed as a replacement for the popular Tomas Rosicky.

In July 2007 he moved to Everton on a season-long loan, and after a successful campaign made the move permanent in April 2008. His first official season at Goodison Park was interrupted up by injury, but he was impressive when he did play, scoring twice in 15 games.
