Everton completed the formalities of goalkeeper John Ruddy's move from Cambridge United in May 2005.

The 18-year-old signed a four-year deal with the Toffees, with an initial fee of £250,000 being payable to the U's, who were relegated from the Football league recently.

Ruddy had already been training with the Goodison Park outfit two days a week after an outline agreement for the move was reached in February.

Everton head of communications Ian Ross told the club's official website: "The signing of John Ruddy has now been officially completed. He has signed a four-year deal which will leave him under contract until 2009.

"John has been a familiar face around Bellefield since the initial agreement was struck earlier this year and everyone at the club wishes him all the best for his future career."

Ruddy had made nearly 50 appearances for the U's since his debut just over a year ago and will be looking to impress in his first campaign at Goodison Park.
