Jack Rodwell broke through to the Everton first team in 2006 when he became the youngest player to represent the club in Europe by coming on as a substitute against AZ Alkmaar. He was 16 years and 284 days old at the time.
It took two more years for him to make his Premier League debut, however, as he was brought on in a match in March 2008. He signed his first professional contract with the club on March 17th of that year.
He made his first professional start in August 2008, playing the full 90 minutes against Blackburn, and scored his first senior goal in an FA Cup victory over Aston Villa in February 2009. He went on to sign a five-year contract, tying him to Goodison Park until 2014.
