Dan Gosling made a quick breakthrough to the Plymouth Argyle squad as a teenager, making his debut at the age of just 16 in December 2006 against Hull City. He went on to make over 20 appearances for the Pilgrims and broke into the England under-17s squad in 2007.
In January 2008, he left Plymouth to sign for Premier League side Everton for £2m. He made his debut in a league match against Middlesbrough in December that year and scored his first goal two days later in a 3-0 victory over Sunderland.
His most memorable contribution to Everton's season came in February 2009 when he scored the extra-time winner in an FA Cup fourth round replay against rivals Liverpool. The goal was voted Goal of the Season by Everton fans, but most didn't see it live due to a technical fault from broadcasters ITV.
