Everton finally completed the signing of Netherlands winger Andy van der Meyde from Internazionale for an undisclosed fee on transfer deadline day 2005.

The former Ajax star's move looked to be in doubt because of a groin injury, but the 25-year-old completed his medical and put pen to paper on a four-year deal as the window was just about to slam shut.

Unfortunately, his first season in England was marred by continued injury problems, meaning that he rarely managed to get a consistent run of form going.

This continued into 2006/07 and his future at Goodison Park remains unclear.
