David Jones

Southport-born David Jones signed as a trainee in July 2001. A hard-working midfield player, he got his first taste of the big time on the bench for United's Carling Cup clash with West Brom in December 2003.

He spent time on loan at United's various feeder clubs before trying to stake his claim on a first team place in 2006/07. However, despite two appearances in the Carling Cup against Crewe and Southend, he went out on loan to Derby County in November 2006 and signed permanently in January 2007.

He is a hugely promising prospect for the Rams and the 2007/08 season could be the making of him.
