Darren Moore

Nicknamed 'Big Dave' as a reference to a hot snack advert by the appreciative Baggies support, imposing defender Darren Moore is popular on the terraces thanks to his committed approach to the game and huge presence.

Birmingham born Moore joined West Brom in September 2001 after a nine month transfer saga and has been ever present in the side ever since. The move signalled his return to his native Midlands after spells at Torquay, Doncaster, Bradford and Portsmouth, where he was skipper.

Moore is a leader and an organiser on the pitch and when he plays acts as motivation for his fellow defenders.

In the 2004/05 season, however, Moore was out for much of the year through recurring injury problems - and how the Baggies missed him.

Without his influence and experience, the Baggies suffered heavy defeats against the likes of Liverpool (5-0), Chelsea (4-1), Birmingham (4-0) and Middlesbrough (4-0) as they sank to the bottom of the Barclays Premiership table for sustained periods of the campaign.

After falling out of favour in the 2005/06 season, Moore left the Baggies to join Championship side Derby County.

He made over 30 apperanaces for the Rams in 06/07 and scored three goals. Such form will be vital for Derby if they are to survive in 07/08.
