Claude Davis

Jamaican defender Claude Davis began his career with Portmore United in the Jamaican Premier League, where he came to the attention of scouts from Preston North End in 2003. He joined Preston that year, initially on loan, making the move permanent in March 2004, having impressed in his first season.

He soon became a key figure at the heart of the Deepdale defence and in 2005/06 he won the club's Player Of The Year awards, voted as the star man by his fellow players and the fans. That summer he left Preston to join top flight new-boys Sheffield United.

However, a knee injury in pre-season hindered his progress at Bramall Lane and he couldn't help them avoid relegation after he returned to fitness. In the summer of 2007 he was on the move again, this time joining newly-promoted Derby County.
