The 21-year-old has joined the Owls from Chelsea initially until the turn of the year and Smith believes previous loan spells at QPR and Norwich City will help him adjust.

He told the club's official website: "I'm here until January, but if I'm in a position to stay longer, that means I'll be doing well for Sheffield Wednesday and that's what I'm aiming for.

"I have plenty of Championship games under the belt and that can only be a good thing when you come to a big club like Sheffield Wednesday.

"I can play anywhere in midfield as I'm both-footed, but I prefer to play down the middle.

"I keep running all day and I can create goals and score them as well. I like to get a foot on the ball and pick my passes and I also like bursting forward from midfield."
