Thanks to Carling, a lucky group of Celtic fans found themselves brushing shoulders with their heroes as they took their place at the star-studded Celtic FC Player of the Year dinner held at the Thistle Hotel in Glasgow. Amongst an evening of entertainment and fine dining the event gave the club a chance to recognise their top performers of the 2009/10 season.
Having finished top of our Carling.com fans poll, Paddy McCourt’s dazzling dribble and stunning finish in the 0-2 victory over St Mirren last September was named as the Carling Fans’ Goal of the Season giving Carling winner Clare Cross the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet the Northern Ireland international as she stepped up on stage to co-present him with his award!
Celtic and Republic of Ireland striker Robbie Keane was amongst the night’s other big winners receiving the recognition the Celtic fans as he collected the club’s Player of the Year award. Keane’s international team mate Aiden McGeady picked up the title of Celtic Player’s Player of the Year whilst the club’s Young Player of the Year was named as 19-year-old defender Josh Thompson.
