Carling Mates Challenge

Celtic v Aberdeen 24.11.07

It was Carling Mates Challenge time again at Celtic Park on Saturday as Hoops fans David Currie, Kevin Currie, Michael Currie, Thomas Bissett and Matthew Bissett got the chance to fulfil their dreams, taking to the pitch to show off their skills in front of almost 60,000 home supporters. They each had the chance to score against Celtic youth 'keeper Ryan Marshall knowing that if they found the back of the net, they would be VIP guests in the Carling Suite at the Celtic v Falkirk game. To add a twist to the event, if any of the guys missed, they could gamble and risk the places they had won to win back the places for the guys who didn't score. They would select one of them to have one more shot to book all 5 places in the Carling Suite.

So how did they get on? Unfortunately it looked like the occasion got the better of some of the lads as David Currie, Thomas Bissett and Matthew Bisset all failed to find a way past Marshall in the Celtic goal. Kevin and Michael Currie showed real poise with their efforts though as they coolly tucked their attempts beyond the young Hoops 'keeper to give the lads a score of two out of five. With only Kevin and Michael booking their places in the Carling Suite for the Falkirk game the boys opted to go for the gamble to see if they could win VIP places for all five, much to the crowd's delight! David Currie was the man to take that gamble, exuding supreme confidence as he demanded the ball for one last attempt. The Bhoys looked to be on their way to the Carling Suite as David wrong footed the 'keeper, only to watch in horror as his effort slipped agonisingly wide of the post! That left the guys with no hospitality prize but all was not lost as there are a few Carlings winging their way to all five mates as we speak!
