The gritty little Icelander has plenty of top flight experience, having plied his trade in the Premier League with Aston Villa and in La Liga with Real Betis.

Tigerish in the tackle and with a keen eye for goal, the all-action midfielder joined the Clarets from Dutch side AZ Alkmaar in 2006. Gudjonsson has been a big hit at Turf Moor, as he was during his previous spell in England, with Leicester City, where he was voted both fans' and players' Player of the Year for 2005.

Gudjonsson's industry and experience are useful components of the current Burnley side.
