Mikel Alonso

Mikel Alonso, the older brother of Liverpool's Xabi, joined Bolton on a season-long loan from Real Sociedad in August 2007.

Like his brother, Mikel is a skilful midfielder and he made his debut for Sociedad in the year 2000.

He was loaned out to DC Numancia for the 2003/04 season, but made only ten appearances for the Spanish Second Division side and moved back to Sociedad at the start of the 04/05 season.

By the time he was loaned to Bolton in summer 2007, he had made 104 appearances for Sociedad, scoring two goals along the way.

The deal could be made permanent at the end of the year, so Alonso will be aiming to impress Sammy Lee in 2007/08.
