Midfielder Danny Guthrie is one of a number of talented youngsters to have broken into the Liverpool first team squad in the last year

Having been released as a youngster by Manchester United, Guthrie was snapped up by Liverpool as a 15-year old and impressed with his performances for the club's Academy side.

Having represented England at several youth levels, Guthrie has this season made his break into the Liverpool first-team. His first appearance came in the pre-season friendly against Wrexham at the Racecourse Ground. His competitive debut for the Reds came in 4-3 League Cup win over Reading at Anfield, replacing Mohamed Sissoko on 62 minutes.

His first full start came in the 3-2 Champions League defeat at Galatasary, with Liverpool having already qualified for the knockout stages.

He then went on loan for a few games at Championship side Southampton, before joining Bolton on a season-long loan in July 2007.
