Bolton Wanderers boss Sam Allardyce moved to strengthen his midfield by signing Iran international Andranik Teimourian from Abu Moslem in August 2006.
The 23-year-old put pen to paper on a two-year contract at the Reebok Stadium after his application for a work permit was approved.
Allardyce told the club's official website: "Andranik is a talented player and somebody who I believe will be able to adapt to the tough demands of the Barclays Premiership.
"He impressed a lot of people during the World Cup and I am delighted that we have beaten off a lot of competition to get his signature."
Teimourian played in all three of Iran's matches at the 2006 World Cup finals.
His first season at Bolton was a great success as he scored four goals in 10 starts.
