Having started his career in Tottenham Hotspur's youth system, Mark Bunn moved on to Northampton Town in 2000, and after a loan spell at Kettering, he made his debut in 2005. He continued to impress in sporadic appearances over the next few years, eventually earning a regular place.
In September 2008 he joined Blackburn Rovers for an undisclosed fee.
