Jason Roberts

Jason Roberts first rose to prominence at non-league Hayes, where his goalscoring form soon had the Wolves at the door. His career at Molineux never really got out of first gear though and it was at Bristol Rovers that it took off before moving to West Brom in 2000.

He initially struggled upon his arrival at the Hawthorns, and by the end of the Baggies' first and only season in the Premiership, Roberts had sunk down to fifth choice striker.

Things didn't get any better for him at the start of the following 2003/04 campaign and after handing in a transfer request, Portsmouth paid a small fee to take him on loan for the rest of that season.

However, in January 2004 he signed for Wigan and made an immediate impact, scoring his first goal for the club after only 30 seconds of his debut. He linked up perfectly with Nathan Ellington, scoring 21 goals in 2004/05 and being named the Supporters' Player of the Year.

He made a big impact in Wigan's first campaign in the top flight, including scoring the goal that sent them through to the Carling Cup final. However, at the end of the season, he announced that he wanted to leave, and rejected a new contract offer.

In July 2006, he signed for Blackburn Rovers for an undisclosed fee and his first season at Ewood Park proved to be a mixed one as he only started eleven games. He scored five goals.
