Radhi Jaidi

Tunisian defender Radhi Jaidi moved to the Reebok Stadium in July 2004.

The 28-year-old, who had also been linked with moves to Paris St Germain and PSV Eindhoven, signed a two-year deal with Sam Allardyce's side.

Bolton signed the defender from Esperance De Tunis, a side that had just secured their seventh successive Tunisian league title.

He had played 68 times for his country and helped Tunisia win the African Cup of Nations earlier this year.

"I've had an excellent career with Esperance and left on a high," Jaidi told Bolton's official website.

"But I now feel ready to experience a different challenge.

"The attraction of Premiership football is difficult to resist, and when I found out that Bolton Wanderers were interested in me I was very keen.

"Other clubs also showed an interest but Bolton took the trouble to see me in person and proved how serious they were in acquiring my services.

"I'm looking forward to meeting my new team-mates, and flying the flag for Tunisian football in what is one of the world's greatest leagues."

His first season for the Trotters was reasonably successful with Jaidi making 28 appearances and scoring 5 times, while his second saw him score three times in twenty-four games.

During the summer, he played for Tunisia in the World Cup finals, where he scored during a 2-2 draw with Saudi Arabia.

However, in August 2006 he was sold to Birmingham City for a fee of £2million and he thrived with the Blues in his first season, helping them gain automatic promotion to the Premier League.

His experience will prove vital in the 07/08 season.
