Birmingham City completed the permanent signing of Tunisian international Mehdi Nafti from Racing Santander in June 2005.

The 26-year-old has penned a three-year deal with the Blues after moving to St Andrews for an undisclosed fee.

City boss Steve Bruce signed Nafti on loan in January and the midfielder made a good impression in the ten games he played for the club.

However, Nafti's first season ended before it really had a chance to begin as he suffered cruciate ligament damage in 2005.

Still he returned in 2006/07 and he will be a vital part of the team as the Blues bid to stave off relegation in 07/08.
