Wayne Routledge burst onto the scene in September 2002, when, making his full Crystal Palace debut at the age of 16, he scored after just one minute.

He was virtually ever-present in 2004/05 for Palace, scoring one goal against Southampton, but was unable to save them from relegation on the final day.

However, he had done enough to impress Tottenham Hotspur and they finally completed the signing of the young winger in June 2005.

In January 2006 he went on loan to Portsmouth for the rest of the season, and in August he was out on loan again to Fulham, where he played 17 games.

Having never really settled at White Hart Lane, Routledge moved on premanently in January 2008, joining Aston Villa for a fee of £2million.
