Young winger Jack Wilshere was added to Arsenal's first team squad at the start of 2008/09 after a rapid rise through the ranks the previous season.
He made his debut in a Premier League match against Blackburn, becoming Arsenal's youngest ever league debutant at the age of 16 years and 256 days. He scored his first Arsenal goal in a 6-0 victory over Sheffield United in the Carling Cup.
